The Department of Theater & Dance offers developing theater artists a comprehensive curriculum of rigorous training with a superb faculty of professional actors, directors, playwrights and designers. Within the dedicated atmosphere of a small liberal arts university, our theater majors enjoy a unique spirit of closeness and collaboration teamed with immediate opportunities to perform and/or to work backstage.

The purpose of formal education and training in the theater is not to impart a neatly packaged body of knowledge and complete set of skills, but rather to help students build a strong foundation from which to launch a lifetime of artistic exploration and personal discovery. This foundation requires the development of the intellectual, physical, emotional and imaginative tools of the complete artist/scholar.
